Governor Cuomo believes that New York must do everything possible to prevent domestic violence before it occurs.
This week, the Governor signed a new law to keep firearms away from people convicted of committing domestic violence crimes.
Now, the federal database used for conducting background checks of those purchasing firearms will include information on individuals found guilty of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes in New York.
