New York: Impeachment Effort Update

Dear Patriotic New Yorker:

Unfortunately, the effort to impeach Gov. Cuomo has stalled. Your calls, emails, and letters brought us to the point where the Speaker of the Assembly Carl Heastie was forced to task the Assembly Judiciary Committee with investigating impeachable offenses by Cuomo. But this is Albany, a town where Cuomo launched and then corrupted his own anti-corruption commission when it started to look at him and his friends.

It is becoming clear that the Democrat establishment is trying the same tactic with the impeachment investigation. The establishment Democrats don’t appear willing to earnestly pursue the truth about Cuomo’s actions during the pandemic especially with regard to the nursing home deaths. Rather it looks more and more like Cuomo’s cronies are attempting to stall to buy Cuomo time. The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee has said the investigation could take months even though proof, and in some cases admissions of impeachable offenses are already in the public domain. Adding insult to injury, the law firm hired to lead the impeachment effort has close ties to Cuomo.
Meanwhile, we have learned that Cuomo may have committed another illegal act for which impeachment may be appropriate. He provided COVID testing to relatives and his buddies early on in the pandemic when there was a shortage of tests. New York’s Public Officers Law bars elected officials from securing “unwarranted privileges” for themselves and others. The law also specifically bans misappropriation of state resources.

Contact your member of the Assembly today and ask them to push for a fair, independent, and expeditious impeachment investigation.
Semper Fidelis,

Kieran M. Lalor
