Earlier today I brought you a story about how the State of California decriminalized gun theft, making its citizens much less safe. Now, the city of Los Angeles wants to follow suit by requiring that all guns must be stored in private homes in either locked containers or with trigger locks, again making its citizens much less safe.
The LA Daily News reports:
Gun owners in Los Angeles would be required to store their firearms in locked containers, or apply trigger locks when not using them, under an ordinance proposed by a half-dozen City Council members today.
If this ordinance were to pass, citizens would not be allowed to keep a loaded firearm at the ready in case of an intruder or home invasion. Instead, the firearms would have to be locked up where it would take valuable time to liberate them for self-defense. Complying with this proposed law would literally be the difference between life and death.
It doesn’t take a genius to understand that when some scumbag, bent on murder or rape, kicks in the front door, the time it takes to find the keys and unlock the firearm gives the bad guy the upper hand. Granted, they do make biometric and quick-release gun safes, but these are not things everyone can afford.
