ALBANY – Gov. Andrew Cuomo has raised $23 million from individuals in New York and elsewhere for his re-election bid, but he hasn’t gotten a dime from 10 rural counties in New York, records show.
The 10 counties include Monroe’s neighbors in Orleans and Genesee counties. Wayne County almost made the list, too, but managed to donate $5 to Cuomo’s campaign.
Cuomo is winning the campaign war chest battle in Monroe County by a wide margin, more than making up for his lack of monetary support elsewhere in the Rochester region.
In Monroe, Cuomo has amassed over $235,000 compared with $21,000 for Republican candidate Rob Astorino, the Westchester County executive.
In fact, while Cuomo has amassed the largest campaign warchest in state history[CANYOU SAY GEORGE SOROS?], he’s being outraised — albeit by very small dollar amounts — in 26 counties by Astorino, campaign finance records show.
