1. MSNBCs Harris-Perry Compares Rick Perry to Segregationists Trying to Stop Integration of Public Schools

MSNBC Weekend MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry her weekend platform to disgustingly compare Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) and his decision to sent National Guard troops to the border to that of southern Democrats blocking African American children from integrating into previously all-white public schools: “Rick Perry was preceded in his call to send armed troops to confront children by Arkansas Governor Orval Faubas. He, of course, called the National Guard to stop the Little Rock Nine from their first day of school at Central High.” More: http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/msnbcs-harris-perry-compares-rick-perry-segregationists-trying-stop-integration-public-sc

2. ‘Meet the Press’ Panel Laments Do-Nothing Nature of Republicans In Congress

A common theme among liberal journalists is to blame a do-nothing Congress when liberal policies fail to become law. Such was the case during a panel discussion on Sundays Meet the Press when moderator David Gregory and his entire panel lamented the lack of legislative action on Capitol Hill, mainly in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Gregory summed up the panels sentiment when he bemoaned how until the incentives are changed, a desire for some compromise or even meeting challenges that Americans want dealt with, will not get done. Because nobody will give the other side even a small win in this climate. More: http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/meet-press-panel-laments-do-nothing-nature-republicans-congress

3. David Gregory Suggests Paul Ryan Doesnt Have A Lot of Sympathy for Poor People

Meet the Press moderator David Gregory did his best to condemn Congressman Paul Ryans new anti-poverty proposal during an interview on Sunday. The NBC host played a clip of Ryan from 2013 in which he criticized a dependency culture in America which Gregory interpreted as not sounding like theres a lot of sympathy for people you think need the government’s help. What you seem to be saying is that people have a problem with their own dependency here the government is only furthering. 4. NBC, CBS Allow a Scant 43 Seconds to Hero Doctor Who Shot Crazed Gunman

In the wake of the Newtown shooting, the networks highlighted President Obama’s call for more gun control to rein in violence. However, NBC and CBS on Thursday night and Friday morning allowed a mere 43 seconds for the story of a hero doctor who used his own firearm to shoot a crazed gunman in Pennsylvania. Good Morning America reporter Ron Claiborne covered the story in a full report. The ABC journalist recounted, “…A psychiatric patient with a criminal past got into an argument with his caseworker, opened fire on her allegedly and then the doctor pulled out his gun and shot the gunman.” More: http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/nbc-cbs-allow-scant-43-seconds-hero-doctor-who-shot-crazed-gunman

5. Networks Condemn Attack on U.N. School in Gaza, Ignore Hamas Hiding Rockets in Schools

While all three networks denounced the shelling of a U.N. school in Gaza on Thursday, NBC, ABC and CBS all failed to report on similar U.N. schools in the war-torn territory being used to hide Hamas rockets. As Fox News reported on Tuesday, “The U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said the rockets were found in between two other UNRWA schools that are being used to host 1,500 displaced people.” On Wednesday’s Special Report, anchor Bret Baier read a statement from the office of the U.N. Secretary General condemning Hamas for the action. Panelist Charles Krauthammer blasted the international organization: “The U.N. workers, UNRWA, have collaborated with Hamas for years and years. They know that there are missiles in the schools, in the hospitals, in the mosques, and they know what’s going to happen. Kids will be killed and that’s going to be on television.” More: http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/networks-condemn-attack-un-school-gaza-ignore-hamas-hiding-rockets-schools

6. Maher: ObamaCare So Much More of a Significant Achievement than Landing on the Moon

Citing the 45th anniversary last week of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, Bill Maher on Friday night sneered: I always hear that the moon landing was the last great thing that America did. I think the last great thing America did was giving health care to 30 million people. That prompted a roar of applause from the Los Angeles audience for Mahers July 25 Real Time show on HBO, and after it died down a bit, Maher insisted: I find that to be so much more of a significant achievement than landing on the moon.
