NYC Nurses Union Still Calling For Strike For Wages, Contributions to Pensions ect…

Brooklyn’s hospital network is in deep crisis. Many of its community hospitals are saddled with debt and losing money. A new report says that the hospitals that are worse-off must merge to survive. Management and boards are often weak, primary care is lacking, and yet the borough has a large, unhealthy population—one million of them insured by Medicaid—creating a high demand on the health care system. Seeing the state the NYC hospital system is in, nurses unions still refuse to see they are a major factor in the failure of these institutions. More than 50% of costs are now for funding employees and not caring for the sick.
